Trajkov: Women and young people to take active roles in leadership

Skopje, 13 May 2026 (MIA) — Deputy Minister for European Affairs Viktorija Trajkov spoke on a panel during the 29th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul, highlighting the importance of reforms and women in decision-making.

The summit, held under the theme of "Global Responsibility," gathered top government officials, diplomats and international experts to discuss global challenges, peace, democracy, the role of women in society and economic cooperation, Trajkov's office said in a press release.

Speaking on a panel titled "Democracy, Women and the Future of Peace," the deputy Europe minister said the region’s European future depended on building stronger institutions and creating a society where women and young people can take active roles in leadership.

She said the European integration process was not only a political goal, but also an essential reform agenda aimed at stability, economic development and the rule of law.

"In times of global challenges, we need more dialogue, cooperation and shared responsibility," Trajkov said.

"Only through partnership and mutual trust can we build a stronger and more sustainable future for all citizens," she said.

Trajkov’s office said the summit provided an opportunity to deepen international cooperation and reaffirm the country's commitment to European values and regional stability. mr/
