- We find ourselves in a crucial time of our history, when security challenges are no longer limited to conventional threats such as organized crime, drug trafficking and corruption, but are interwoven with new and more complex threats, said Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski in the opening remarks at the Retraining Session of the European Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA), held in Skopje.
Skopje, 22 September 2025 (MIA) - We find ourselves in a crucial time of our history, when security challenges are no longer limited to conventional threats such as organized crime, drug trafficking and corruption, but are interwoven with new and more complex threats, said Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski in the opening remarks at the Retraining Session of the European Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA), held in Skopje.
"Today, we see the emergence of cyberthreats and cuber warfare, tech abuse, traditional extremism and turning disinformation into a weapon that changes the nature of our security environment. This reality not only requires our vigilance and reactivity, but also vision and readiness to reevaluate the old models, embrace innovation and create a deeper and better international cooperation," said Minister Toshkovski.
He said institutions are expected to be agile, think ahead and build policies and practices that are sufficiently flexible to respond to the present challenges, but also strategic enough to anticipate the coming ones.
"We should not forget that no matter the technological development, our fundamental values must remain firm. As police officers and professionals in the field of security, we all have a common mission of serving the people and protecting the state. This conference is an opportunity for exchange of experiences and ideas but also renewal of our joint commitment to the values that unify us - protection of citizens, strengthening the rule of law and enhancing trust in institutions," said Toshkovski.
FBINAA President William Carbone also delivered an address, saying that Skopje is a city full of history, noting that the future depends on those committed to justice, cooperation and friendship.
"This gathering is dedicated to bringing together like-minded professionals from Europe and the world," said Carbone.
