Toshkovski says state showed it can respond to any challenge after Kochani tragedy

Skopje, 14 March 2026 (MIA) - We showed that the state and its institutions can respond to any challenge when united. The Ministry of Interior demonstrated maximum professionalism when it comes to transport in support of medical services, said Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski in his remarks at international conference on the institutional and clinical aspects and solutions after the Kochani fire, held in Skopje on Saturday.
Minister Toshkovski extended condolences to the victims' families and thanked all those who helped in the afternath of the tragedy.
"I believe their solidarity, openness and readiness to help was crucial in our response to the enormous tragedy," said Toshkovski.

On the day of the tragedy and the period afterwards, about 3,000 police officers secured the site of the accident and undertook all operational activities related to saving human lives, transport of patients etc.
"A total of 115 injured persons were transported to foreign health institutions, the special police forces provided two emergency vehicles, the two police helicopters were also used, while the required travel documents for the injured and their families were issued through an expedited procedure," said Toshkovski.
