Three documentaries and three fiction films to be screened at Skopje’s Kinenova film festival

Skopje, 16 September 2025 (MIA) - Three documentaries and three fiction films will be screened at the 10th Kinenova International Film Festival set to be held in Skopje from September 28 to October 5.
The head of the festival, Nebojsha Jovanovikj, said at a press conference Tuesday the festival will open with a screening of “The Lost Dream Team” by Croatian director Jure Pavlovic at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. The other screenings will be held at the Kinoverzum cinema in the Municipality of Kisela Voda.
Jovanovikj said this year’s festival will award three prominent international filmmakers, including one Macedonian – cinematographer Vladimir Samoilovski, who will receive the festival’s special award for outstanding contribution to the art of cinema.
Iconic European actress Liv Ullmann will receive the festival’s lifetime achievement award, while this year’s Golden Bear recipient at the Berlinale, Dag Johan Haugerud, will receive Kinenova’s award for outstanding contribution to the art of cinema.
Festival programmer Igor Angjelov said six exciting films from different countries will be screened at this year’s Kinenova.
“Apart from Jure Pavlovic’s ‘The Lost Dream Team’, I would also like to highlight Slovenian film ‘Praslovan’ by Slobodan Maksimovic, which will close the festival. The third documentary to be screened is a German-Japanese co-production ‘Johatsu: Into Thin Air’ directed by Andreas Hartmann and Arata Mori. The other films in the festival’s program are ‘Once Upon a Time in Gaza’ by Tarzan and Arab Nasser, ‘Panopticon’ by George Sikharulidze, and ‘Dwelling Among Gods’ by Vuk Rsumovic,” Angjelov added.
