Skopje, 25 July 2026 (MIA) - Police officers detained a 36-year-old Strumica resident near Gevgelija late on Friday under the suspicion of migrant smuggling.

The police stopped a vehicle with Austrian register plates, driven by the suspect, and found seven migrants - four from Pakistan, two from Afghanistan, and one from Turkey. Upon further inspection, the police found that the suspect did not even hold a driving license, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

The migrants have been transferred to the Gevgelija-based reception-transit center.
