Skopje, 3 July 2025 (MIA) - Health Insurance Fund (HIV) director Sasho Klekovski said Thursday the number of complaints by the injured in the Kochani nightclub fire has dropped and that the lion's share of the healthcare costs are covered by the state, not donations.
"One portion of the requests are not for medicines but sick leaves that are not covered by the law. Some relate to the length of the sick leave of companions and the number of companions, because our law prescribes a sick leave for one companion and for a limited period. Nevertheless, we are seeking a solution for this issue, because we are aware there are still patients who are hospitalized," Klekovski told a press conference.
On the patient currently treated in the "Sistina" private hospital in Skopje, he said she is still in the intensive care unit but her condition is stable. The second patient treated in the same hospital is also in intensive care due to repeated infections.
The Kochani nightclub fire claimed 62 lives, and about 200 people were injured.
