Skopje, 11 June 2026 (MIA) — The number of live births in the country dropped by 1.3% in 2025 compared to 2024, according to final data released by the State Statistical Office. 

A total of 15,932 births were recorded in 2025, of which 15,850 were live births and 82 were stillbirths.

July was the busiest month for deliveries, recording 1,531 live births. Baby boys outnumbered baby girls, accounting for 51.7% of the live births. 

The average age for all mothers giving birth was 29.8 years. First-time mothers averaged 28.2 years old. Women aged 25 to 29 accounted for the largest share of births at 31.7%. By generation, women born in 1995 gave birth most frequently.

There were 15 live births to mothers under the age of 15. Nearly 12% of children (1,868 births) were born to unmarried parents. mr/
