Speaker Gashi meets energy and foreign ministers in Azerbaijan

Skopje, 18 June 2025 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi as part of his official visit to Azerbaijan met with the ministers of foreign affairs and energy, Jeyhun Bayramov and Parviz Shahbazov respectively.
In his meeting with the Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, Gashi welcomed the intensification of communication between the government officials of the two countries, saying ways are being opened to boost cooperation in all areas, the Parliament’s office said.

Being two friendly countries without outstanding issues, Bayramov said that cooperation should be advanced not only in economy and energy, but also in tourism.
The two interlocutors concluded that amid the geopolitical challenges, efforts to improve mutual good relations and cooperation will be seen as promotion of peace and stability in the wider region, said the press release.
In his meeting with Energy Minister Shahbazov, the Speaker welcomed the commitment to strengthening the partnership in gas supply, voiced in the communication so far between the two countries.
“He said it is important for us to secure long-term gas supply agreements as well as potential investment in gas infrastructure in North Macedonia,” said the press release.
Minister Shahbazov said ways are already being sought to bolster cooperation with North Macedonia in terms of natural gas supply and announced he plans on visiting the country in early autumn.

MP Petar Markov, chair of the parliamentary group for cooperation with Azerbaijan, MP Imrlie Saliu-Fetai, and Parliament secretary general Marina Dimovska also attended the meeting.
