Skopje, 3 September 2025 (MIA) - Three individuals are suspected and under investigation for endangering the environment and nature with waste material by creating an illegal landfill in the Vardarishte area. The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje has requested detention for all three individuals.  

The Prosecutor’s Office said on Wednesday all three individuals were engaged in activities involving the purchase of scrap iron, metal products, old batteries, and other non-ferrous metals at improvised collection points – scrapyards at the specified location, without a registered company, without establishing a legal entity, and without possessing the appropriate permit.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, with their actions the suspects they could have caused significant harm to the quality of the soil, air, or water and endangered the lives and health of citizens.
