Siljanovska-Davkova meets World Bank Country Manager Carole Megevand

Skopje, 9 July 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met Wednesday with the World Bank’s new Country Manager for North Macedonia and Kosovo, Carole Megevand, who is on official visit to the country after assuming her post at the beginning of the month. 

“Expressing gratitude for the past three decades of assistance, Siljanovska-Davkova voiced expectations that the cooperation with the World Bank, with the new Country Manager will result in greater benefits for Macedonian society. She noted that since 1993, over 100 projects worth US$2.2 billion have been approved, strengthening systems for employment and social protection, promoting sustainable, green growth with the final benefit of a stronger Macedonian economy and higher quality of life for the citizens,” the President’s Office said in a press release. 

According to Megevand, the primary goal of the World Bank is to support the country’s development through the implementation of best practices and experiences. She stressed that during her term, she would work towards inclusive economic growth in the country, with equal opportunities for housing, education and employment for everyone, as well as improvements to infrastructure, and digitization.

Stressing that her meeting with the President is her first meeting with a high official in the country. Megevand voiced expectations that the World Bank’s priorities for the country will be identical with the Macedonian national priorities.
