Siljanovska-Davkova attends meeting of European Political Community in Copenhagen - Ukraine, security situation in Europe on agenda

Copenhagen, 2 October 2025 (MIA) – Strengthening Ukraine, the general security situation in Europe and how to make Europe stronger and more secure amid the current geopolitical situation, will be in the focus of Thursday's meeting of the European Political Community in Copenhagen, with Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova also in attendance.

The seventh meeting of the European Political Community will begin with a plenary session, followed by several roundtable discussions focusing on different aspects of the security situation in Europe, including traditional and hybrid threats, economic security, and migration.

In a press release, the President’s Office said Siljanovska-Davkova will address a panel discussion titled “Security and Resilience: Traditional and New Threats” which will be chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"We are now in the fourth year of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. This proves that collective action to build a strong and secure Europe is more important than ever. We need to continue to coordinate and stay united," reads the invitation letter for the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen, sent by the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, and the President of the European Council, António Costa, who will co-chair the meeting.

The meeting brings together 47 heads of state or government from Europe, including the 27 EU member states, the six Western Balkan countries, including North Macedonia, the four members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the three Caucasian republics, as well as Andorra, the United Kingdom, Moldova, Monaco, San Marino, Türkiye and Ukraine. In addition, the Prime Ministers of the Danish territories of Greenland and the Faroe Islands have been invited to the meeting, as well as the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, and representatives of the OSCE and the Council of Europe.

Ahead of today's working session, participants in the meeting of the European Political Community attended on Wednesday evening an official dinner hosted by Danish King Frederik X and Queen Mary at the Amalienborg Royal Palace in Copenhagen.

The European Political Community is a platform for coordination between European heads of state and government of EU and non-EU countries on issues of shared strategic importance. It aims to foster political dialogue and cooperation, and strengthen the security, stability and prosperity of the European continent. This platform for political coordination does not replace any existing organisation, structure or process, nor does it aim to create new ones.

The next European Political Community meetings will take place in Armenia and Ireland in 2026.
