Skopje, 24 August 2025 (MIA) – In the past four years with VMRO-DPMNE at the helm of the City of Skopje, we’ve seen what is chaos, irresponsibility and complete sidelining of the interest of the citizens, we’ve seen partisan interests being put above public health. The city was ruined as well as the lives of the citizens because of political spite, SDSM candidate for Skopje mayor, Kaja Shukova, told a news conference Sunday.

VMRO-DPMNE, she insisted, scarified Skopje to settle scores with the current mayor, Danela Arsovska, despite endorsing her in the previous elections only to sever ties with her after.

“If VMRO-DPMNE wins the trust of the voters in the coming local elections, the city will become a field for personal and party interests with no responsible management,” Shukova said. 

According to her, the city in the past four years has endured complete destruction of public transportation, trash everywhere without a functioning cleaning system, as well as cultural demolition and destruction of the city’s urban spirit. 

“The residents of Skopje want solutions and sincerity, policies that produce results. They expect a clean and cultural city. They expect a mayor with a vision and a plan without false promises and mega projects on paper,” Shukova told the news conference.
