Skopje, 29 January 2026 (MIA) – As part of the Athletes of the Year 2025 event on Thursday, Minister of Sports Borko Ristovski reaffirmed state support for athletes.

"Athletes are our best ambassadors. I am committed to resolving all obstacles, and we will put sports on the right track. The success and development in these less than two years are due to the support by the Government and the Ministry of Sports. We continue to work hard to improve the sports infrastructure and support top sports and the most successful Macedonian athletes. In amending the law, we have corrected a long-standing injustice and granted national recognition to our best athletes who have represented Macedonia in Europe and the world for the past 20 years. They should be an example for our 500 scholarship holders who are here with us tonight," Ristovski pointed out. 

As is tradition, during Thursday's event the Ministry of Sports awarded scholarships to 500 talented young athletes, Macedonian national team members.

Minister Ristovski sent a message to all Macedonian athletes to never give up and to believe in themselves because that is the path to success.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski is also attending the Athletes of the Year 2025 event at the National Opera and Ballet.
