Red Cross collects EUR 2.53 million in support for Kochani nightclub fire victims

Skopje, 23 May 2025 (MIA) - The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia said Friday it has so far collected Mden 156.5 million or (EUR 2.53 million) of humanitarian assistance for the victims of the fire in Kochani and their families.

According to the Red Cross, the organization said it has made several payments to families affected by the fire in Kochani.

These funds have so far provided financial support to the families of the deceased in the total amount of Mden 52 million. A total of Mden 44 million has been paid to those injured in the fire who received treatment abroad, while Mden 11 million have been paid to those treated in the country. The total amount of funds transferred so far stand at Mden 107 million, reads the press release.

The remaining Mden 46 million in the Red Cross account, according to the press release, will be distributed in a timely manner. This will follow ongoing expert assessments of injury severity, projected recovery duration, and the needs of the injured, conducted by competent institutions in the country. The aim is to ensure objectivity and meet the real needs of the affected individuals. The Red Cross states that it will provide updates regarding the distribution process.

The Red Cross thanks all donors who have supported and continue to support humanitarian aid efforts for those affected and their families. Moreover, the Red Cross is still on the ground, offering psychological support as part of efforts to help families recover from the tragedy.
