Moscow, 2 December 2025 (dpa/MIA) – Talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are under way in Moscow, Russian state news agency TASS reports.

Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, is also taking part in the meeting aimed at discussing plans for a possible end to the war in Ukraine.

Witkoff and Kushner were involved in previous negotiations with Ukrainian officials on a US-backed 28-point-peace plan that was initially criticized by Kiev and its European allies for heavily favouring Russia.

But changes to the proposal negotiated with Ukrainian representatives over the past week are unlikely to be welcomed by Moscow.

Ahead of Tuesday's talks in the Russian capital, Putin said the European amendments were intended to block the peace process, according to Russian news agency Interfax.
