PPO Skopje looking into Zhan Mitrev's allegations that Zaev and Filipche wanted to take over his clinic

Skopje, 28 January 2026 (MIA) - The Skopje Public Prosecutor's Office (PPO) said it was looking into a case filed at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Macedonia, after doctor Zhan Mitrev made public allegations that a former prime minister and a former minister of health pressured him to sell his ownership stake in the Zhan Mitrev Clinic - Skopje.

The case, which is being led by the Skopje Prosecutor's Office, was formed on January 21.

"The case is being probed for possible existence of elements of a criminal offence that is prosecuted ex officio," PPO Skopje said in a press release.

In an interview with TV Alfa, Zhan Mitrev made allegations that he was subjected to pressure from high-ranking political officials. According to his statements, former Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and former Minister of Health Venko Filipche were asking him to sell them his ownership stake in the Zhan Mitrev Clinic.
