Polling stations open, more than 1,8 million people eligible to vote

A total of 1,832,415 voters are eligible to cast their votes in 3,480 polling stations across the country, which will close at 7 pm.
A total of 309 candidates are running for mayors in the elections, which also feature 576 lists for members of municipal councils with a total of 10,490 candidates.
Inmates, people in house arrest and the infirm and people in nursing homes voted on Saturday.
The State Election Commission (SEC) has said it will hold a news conference at 9:30 am to reveal data about the turnout.
The SEC should release preliminary results within 12 hours.
