Skopje, 17 July 2025 (MIA) - With 60 votes in favor, and no votes against or abstentions, Parliament ratified Thursday the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Government of Hungary.
The Agreement was signed in Skopje on June 13, 2025, during the visit of Hungary's Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, to the capital.
VMRO-DPMNE's parliamentary whip Nikola Micevski said the Agreement is a "clear message" that the country is building stable, long-term, reliable partnerships with “real friends at a time when we need real partners more than ever”.

“This is the second strategic agreement that this government has concluded within the first year of its term. This agreement should be welcomed as a step in the right direction – a direction of concrete foreign policy, productive economic diplomacy, and visionary commitment to the country’s future. This agreement establishes a formal strategic partnership between Macedonia and Hungary, an EU and NATO member state, with whom we have a decades-long friendship and stable political relations. This partnership will enable the promotion of cooperation in many important fields – infrastructure, energy, transport, information technology, cyber security, and defense. These areas are the drivers of any serious development and a guarantee for economic and security stability, which is especially important in the current geopolitical situation in Europe. The agreement brings opportunities for the domestic economy through the active involvement of the Macedonian private sector and the introduction of foreign investors in the realization of strategic projects,” Micevski said.
