Orbán tells Zelensky: Hungary will not be intimidated

Budapest, 25 January 2026 (MIA) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today that Hungary will not be intimidated.
“Hungary will not be intimidated. Presidents come and go, personal insults can occur, but Hungary’s dignity is a non-negotiable. Ukrainian President Zelensky would do well to remember that,” Orbán said in a post on the social media platform X.
On Thursday, the Hungarian Prime Minister criticized Zelensky over his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, saying that, according to Budapest reports, he “attacked the Hungarian government and him personally once again.”

“Zelensky claims that the support given to Ukraine is not enough, that weapons are insufficient, and that Europe’s determination is lacking. The response from Brussels came quickly. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled a roadmap for Ukraine, in which Brussels agreed to all Ukrainian requests - $800 billion for Ukraine, fast-tracked EU membership by 2027, and continued support through 2040,” Orbán said.
He stated that Zelensky “is on the wrong track,” but that Brussels is “prepared to pay.”
“Moreover, we will make a few remarks on this. A national petition is coming through which we can send a message to Brussels: we will not pay,” Orbán said.
