Kiev, 19 July 2025 (dpa/MIA) - At least one person was killed and several others injured as Russia launched a wave of drone attacks on Ukraine overnight, officials said early on Saturday.

In the southern port city of Odessa, at least one person was killed after more than 20 drones approached the city from different directions, Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov wrote on Telegram.

Civilian infrastructure had been damaged in the attack and a residential high-rise building caught fire, he said.

Regional military governor Oleh Kiper said at least three people had been injured.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion for more than three years. Russia regularly targets infrastructure and cities deep within Ukrainian territory with missiles and drones.
