Skopje, 30 May 2025 (MIA) — Water will be shut off for up to 15 hours Saturday in parts of Skopje including alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina Boulevard and in Vizbegovo, Chair, Topansko Pole, Avtokomanda, Zhelezara and Butel 1, the city's Water Supply and Sewage utility company said.
The water supply interruption is due to planned works on several main water pipes to improve water pressure and minimize water leakage, the utility said.
It said it would shut off the water at midnight and works were expected to end by 3 pm.
The works include installing a needle valve to enable the city's water engineers to finely regulate water flow and pressure, the utility said.
The works also include setting up a connection between the existing 1600-mm water main at Zhelezara with the existing 700-mm water main at Aleksandar Makedonski Boulevard — which is currently connected to the city's 1600-cm water main — through a new 700-mm water main to be laid under the newly planned Croatia Boulevard.
This connection will form "a circular ring" connecting the city's water mains, the utility said. mr/nn/
