No rise in bread prices

No rise in bread prices

Skopje, 19 September 2025 (MIA) - Macedonian Chambers of Commerce president Goran Gjorgjievski said Friday that bread prices will not go up.

Speaking at Friday's press conference, he pointed out that the price of wheat is stable, and there will be no major fluctuations in terms of crude sunflower oil.

In response to reporters' questions on possible new government measures, Gjorgjievski pointed out that the business community is not in favour of capping margins, but a market-based price formation.

According to him, the law banning unfair trade practices should be consistently applied.

As regards the minimum wage, however, Gjorgjievski pointed out that there must be a sustainable balance when it comes to wages. Raising the minimum wage would affect the increase of all other wages.

"The problem is not businesses, but the administration. We need to learn that we need to work, in order to get a salary, we need to create a working situation in society," said the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce president

Skilled people in the private sector receive excellent pay, believes Gjorgjievski, and those who are not satisfied leave their job.
