Skopje, 15 June 2026 (MIA) - There will be no constitutional changes without VMRO-DPMNE, says Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and adds that the current authorities "will not succumb to blackmail related to the Bulgarian demands".

PM Mickoski told Alsat-M that the former SDSM-DUI government had signed capitulation by accepting those demands.

"I am sending three messages, the first being there will be no constitutional changes without VMRO-DPMNE. Politicians from the opposition can be the soft tissue of the Macedonian identity and statehood, which I cannot judge or praise. Secondly, I know that the previous authorities signed a white piece of paper that we call capitulation due to various interests by DUI and SDSM. They thought that someone would give them the win at the parliamentary elections if they signed that paper, but this failed to materialize and they are both currently disintegrating in opposition," says Mickoski.

The PM notes that the Government is aware of the commitments that the previous authorities undertook but is also aware of the commitments that Bulgaria has with regard to human rights.

"Former Bulgarian authorities committed themselves to consistent observance of human rights by signing and ratifying the human rights' convention. There are currently 14 judgments by the European Court of Human Rights that call on Bulgaria to allow the registration of OMO Iliden-Pirin but the country refuses to do this. These judgments came way before the former SDSM-DUI authorities accepted the current demands," says Mickoski.
