Skopje, 12 November 2025 (MIA) - Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski says the issue of transport in Skopje will be resolved only by combining the projects of city train, new eco-buses and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
"These three projects need to be implemented in parallel. One is overhaul of the Public Transport Enterprise (JSP) bus pool with electric buses and we are already working on this; second, connecting the suburbs with downtown Skopje by a city train; and third, solution for the urban areas through a more economic transport. There needs to be synergy among these three things, we will achieve nothing if they function alone," Minister Nikoloski told Telma.
Regarding the city train, he says the project is already in the pipeline, with one of the three lines from the village of Zelenikovo to the Skopje Railway Station already being built.
"The second line, which construction is due to start next spring, starts from the village of Miladinovci and ends at the Skopje Railway Station, while the third begins at the Skopje Railway Station and ends in the villages of Volkovo and Radusha," says Nikoloski.
