Skopje, 11 March 2026 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski held working meetings at the State Department for talks on the strategic partnership between North Macedonia and the United States, with special emphasis on political and economic ties.

Talks with the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Daniel Lawton, underscored the strong partnership between the two countries based on mutual support and shared commitment to democratic values and the creation of better prospects for economic and trade cooperation, the Ministry of Transport said in a press release.

"I held several high-level meetings at the U.S. State Department today, discussing the relations between our two countries. The U.S. is Macedonia's core strategic partner, a country that supports Macedonia the most. We discussed joint economic and political cooperation. I also met with the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe, Daniel Lawton. At the meeting, we discussed deepening the political and economic ties between the two countries, as well as the strategic partnership that we share. We also discussed cooperation in NATO in these challenging times, as well as the joint operations that we are conducting," Deputy PM Nikoloski said after the meetings at the State Department.

Nikoloski added that talks also tackled economic cooperation, primarily in terms of energy transition and construction of the corridors.

"We discussed the Pan-European Corridors VIII and X that pass through Macedonia and are vitally important for the economy and security of our country. We also discussed deepening cooperation in the coming period. We expect the strategic dialogue to be reactivated with a focus on the common challenges that the two countries have.
