Murtezani - Starović: Shared steps toward European integration, regional cooperation

Skopje, 1 July 2025 (MIA) - Enhancing the cooperation between the two countries on the path to European integration was the focus on Tuesday’s meeting between Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani and Serbia’s Minister of European Integrations Nemanja Starović, on the sidelines of the Western Balkans Leaders Meeting on the EU's Growth Plan held in Skopje, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.

According to the Ministry, Murtezani congratulated his Serbian counterpart on his new ministerial post and voiced readiness to deepen the cooperation between the two countries on the path to European integration.

“I am convinced that with a new dynamic and proactiveness we will continue to work on improving the European agenda in the region. The Growth Plan is a shared opportunity to strengthen our economic ties and move closer to European policies,” Murtezani said.

The meeting also discussed the existing cooperation based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries, as well as on new initiatives of mutual interest, including cross-border programs and infrastructure projects.

"The consistent and coordinated implementation of European reforms is a prerequisite for achieving the economic and institutional benefits offered by the EU's new approach. We are ready for close communication and joint action to ensure full European integration of our countries," Murtezani added.

The ministers agreed that regional cooperation and the European perspective are key to the stability and development of the Western Balkans.
