Mucunski in U.S. visit, to attend UNGA 80

Skopje, 17 September 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, is paying a working visit to the United States on September 17-26. Mucunski is set to meet with top U.S. officials in Washington, and attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York.

In Washington, Mucunski will meet with top State Department officials, for talks on promoting political dialogue, trade cooperation, as well as promoting the strategic partnership. He will also participate in a roundtable discussion of the American-Central European Business Association (ACEBA), and hold meetings with congressmen and senators. On the occasion of the Independence Day and 30 years of diplomatic relations, the Minister will address an event with the Macedonian diaspora in the Washington region.

Minister Mucunski is also part of the Macedonian state delegation participating in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, led by President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova. This year's session is held under the theme Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights. 

During the UNGA high-level week, Mucunski will hold numerous bilateral meetings with counterparts from European and non-European countries, as well as with representatives of the A5, SEECP, CEI, the Western Balkans and the ICC informal support network. He will also participate in a transatlantic dinner hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as business meetings related to foreign trade and foreign investment.

On the UN multilateral agenda, the Minister will address several events, including the Biennial Summit for a Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Global Economy, a roundtable on Europe and the United States at a time of global economic fragmentation, and a high-level debate of the UN Security Council on AI and international peace and security. He will also host a working breakfast with the member states of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative.

Aheadof the official program in New York, the Minister will visit a food festival at the Macedonian church "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in New Jersey, as well as the Macedonian church "St. Clement of Ohrid", where he will meet with the Macedonian diaspora from the New York and New Jersey region.
