Mucunski – Brunner: Continuing efforts to find practical and timely solutions for professional drivers

Skopje, 27 February 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski met Friday with the European Union’s Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner.

At the meeting, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Minister Mucunski highlighted the country’s continued engagement in the EU accession process, particularly in the area of internal affairs and migration. He stressed the commitment to promoting institutional capacities and implementing reforms in the area with the goal of further harmonization with European rules and standards.

“The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation in managing migration, including the partnership with Frontex, the fight against illegal migration and organized crime, visa policy, as well as the continued exchange of information and experiences,” the Ministry said.

A special emphasis was placed on the implementation of the European Union’s Entry/Exit System. Minister Mucunski noted the practical implications of its implementation, especially those affecting professional drivers and the transport sector, which are facing operational and financial challenges.

“In that context, the Minister stressed the importance of continuing efforts to find practical and timely solutions through constructive dialogue with the European Commission and the member states, aimed at strengthening connectivity and ensuring unimpeded trade flows,” the Ministry said.
