MP Stojanovski: If our position on diaspora voting is endorsed, ruling coalition to accept everything agreed by opposition parties
- Everything that will be agreed by the opposition parties, most notably by Levica, SDSM and DUI, in view of financing, in view of the right of the diaspora to vote, in view of complaints and in view of single constituency, we will accept it if our position is endorsed, which is – the diaspora to exercise the constitutional right of being able to vote in elections, VMRO-DPMNE MP Bojan Stojanovski stated after Tuesday’s meeting of the political parties in Parliament to discuss the Electoral Code amendments.
Skopje, 7 July 2026 (MIA) – Everything that will be agreed by the opposition parties, most notably by Levica, SDSM and DUI, in view of financing, in view of the right of the diaspora to vote, in view of complaints and in view of single constituency, we will accept it if our position is endorsed, which is – the diaspora to exercise the constitutional right of being able to vote in elections, VMRO-DPMNE MP Bojan Stojanovski stated after Tuesday’s meeting of the political parties in Parliament to discuss the Electoral Code amendments.
VMRO-DPMNE, he told members of the media, pointed out that voting should be regulated by a bylaw, set to be passed by the State Election Commission until September 30, 2028.
“The opposition parties informed us that they are not changing their positions. We, the coalition together with Vlen and ZNAM, offered a different model and we think it should be accepted because our goal is the diaspora to be able to vote, diaspora turnout to increase,” Stojanovski said.
VMRO-DPMNE, he added, proposed that the opposition parties, including DUI, SDSM, Levica and some smaller parties, should sit down and align all of their differences because their platforms are the same, but there are differences in details. “They should agree over single constituency, the financing model, as well as the model on how the diaspora will vote. Everything that these opposition parties will offer us in a consolidated text of a bill, we will accept it,” stated Stojanovski.
This is a joint demand of all government coalition partners, he stressed.
“We have different opinions on several issues, but when it comes to a key national interest, we know how to align them in the interest of the coalition. This is a joint demand by both ZNAM and Vlen as well,” the MP said.
Stojanovski also said that the opposition parties have no deadline to respond to the demand of the ruling parties.
