Skopje, 27 May 2025 (MIA) - Following serious investments in education, through reform laws, infrastructure improvements and wage increases, comes a new measure in education that now focuses on science. Finally, with today's decision of the Government to adopt amendments to the 2025 Program for Scientific and Research Activity, for the first time in history, the citation databases Web of Science and Scopus become free for all state universities, the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) and the South East European University (SEEU), said Government Spokesperson Marija Miteva.
Faculties, scholars and young people, Miteva pointed out, will be able to use these renowned citation databases for free.
"With this, the most prestigious journals and papers become accessible to everyone. The Ministry of Education and Science takes on this responsibility and will ensure access. This opens up the possibility for ultimate progress and competitiveness in science," she added.
At Tuesday's session, the Government approved two key laws that are part of the Reform Agenda and are to be adopted by June 2025.
Miteva said these are the Law on Electronic Communications and the first Law on Security of Network and Information Systems, or more specifically, a law dedicated to cybersecurity. According to her, these are two key reform laws that show that the Government is opening a new chapter in Macedonia's digital transformation.
