Ministry of Justice: Majority of OSCE/ODIHR recommendations accepted

Skopje, 21 May 2026 (MIA) - The working group on reforms in the electoral legislation reviewed Thursday a number of key issues related to the alignment of the Electoral Code with OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, accepting the majority of them.

Members of the working group adopted several proposals for changes to Electoral Code provisions, with further discussion raised on other issues, towards reaching a broader consensus among political parties and other stakeholders, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.

The working group concluded that the next session will also tackle the remaining open issues, along with analysis of proposals by parliamentary political parties, independent lawmakers, institutions and civil society.

All stakeholders are urged to submit their proposals and remarks within the defined timeline for the purpose of drafting a text of the Electoral Code amendments in a timely fashion. The working group continues with its activities for enhancement of the electoral legislation and strengthening of democratic electoral standards. A legislative solution is expected very soon, reads the press release.
