Strumica, 17 June 2026 (MIA) - We are gathered here tonight to show that the idea that started 36 years ago has not only survived but is stronger than ever. That idea, that dream was and will aways be Macedonia. We are here tonight to show that Macedonia has the energy and the hope again. We are sending a clear message from Strumica - Macedonia is moving forward step by step and must accelerate. This is our task, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski on the party's 36th anniversary observed in Strumica on Wednesday.

"We faced many difficult moments over the past 36 years - defeats, injustice, disappointment, many thought at tmes that it was easier to give up than move on. But when some thought we were down, we became stronger, when some thought we were defeated, the people gave us new inspiration, fresh energy and strength. The opposition thinks they are born to be in power, but we in VMRO-DPMNE believe we are destined to work and smake sacrifices for our people, the cause and the homeland. That is why our strength comes from the people, as has been the case across centuries. Our task is to fight for what we believe and until we are united and do good things for the country, the homeland will be strong," said Mickoski.

He delved into the historic VMRO that was established on 23 October 1893 with the aim of creating autonomous Macedonia, whereas the VMRO-DPMNE political party was founded almost a century afterwards, on 17 June 1990.

"The continuity we call upon with the historic VMRO is not an abstract term or something imaginary, but an ideology deeple embedded in the party's programming documents, verified by the party's leadership and embraced by the large membership and activists," said Mickoski.

He noted that VMRO-DPMNE is more than a party.

"It is a name that is remembered and carries weight. VMRO is the biggest Macedonian political brand created by history and struggle, pain, sacrifice, fait and love for the homeland. VMRO is a lasting idea," said Mickoski.
