Skopje, 28 May 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski welcomed the ratification of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which was passed in Parliament earlier on Wednesday. 

"The strategic partnership agreement with the United Kingdom has been passed in Parliament. This is a strong alliance with one of the strongest countries. This brings economic and political benefits for the common future of all our citizens! The changes are happening," PM Mickoski posted on Facebook. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski also welcomed the ratification of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. 

"The law on ratification of the agreement between the Government of Macedonia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has been passed. This agreement is of historical importance for Macedonia and the country's development," Deputy PM Nikoloski posted on Facebook. 

This agreement reaffirms the partnership between the two countries, said Nikoloski, who signed the agreement last week in London on behalf of the Macedonian Government. 

"Together we will carry out huge projects and make Macedonia a much better place to live in," Deputy PM Nikoloski's Facebook post reads. 

Deputy PM and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski and UK Minister for Services, Small Business and Exports, Gareth Thomas signed on May 22 in London the agreement on partnership for implementation of infrastructure projects, under which the country will have access to a historic amount of £5 billion for the realization of capital projects.

To become effective, the agreement needs to be approved by the UK Government. Once the agreement is effective, official discussions and negotiations on project implementation will start. 

"My ambition is to have the agreements by summer and to start fieldwork by late autumn," Nikoloski said previously, commenting on the agreement.
