Skopje, 5 May 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski extended a greeting on May 5 - Macedonian Language Day, pointing out that Macedonian language is the bedrock of our spiritual and national identity.

“The Macedonian language is not only a means of communication, but a living witness to centuries of history, a guardian of collective memory and the hallmark of our cultural and national distinctions. Its words weave the struggles, hopes and aspirations of generations that have built and preserved our existence,” Mickoski said in his greeting.

According to the PM, we have a clear and sacred duty today to nurture, promote, and represent the Macedonian language with dignity, both at home and on the international stage.

“Times of challenge require wisdom, unity and unwavering faith in the values that define us. As a society and as a state, we remain firmly committed to protecting and affirming the Macedonian language as an inalienable cultural and historical heritage. It is our common obligation, but also our common future. Let May 5 remind us that language is the guardian of a people’s soul,” PM Mickoski said congratulating the Macedonian Language Day.
