Mickoski: Local elections winner clear, trust in proposed candidates

Mickoski: Local elections winner clear, trust in proposed candidates

Zrnovci, 21 September 2025 (MIA) - I try to ensure that the messages I send rise above the situation and convey reassurance. Naturally, with elections, there is tension in certain municipalities across Macedonia. It would be strange if there wasn’t. Even though the winner of these local elections is clear, we are already planning for the day after, which will mark a strong government led by VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition, and many municipalities governed by the coalition. We are already thinking about the day after the elections,” Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Sunday after laying the cornerstone of a home for the elderly in Zrnovci.

When asked if he was satisfied with the proposed candidates for mayors, the Mickoski stated that they had strived to be objective and, using the information at their disposal, to make the best choice.

“I have confidence in each of the proposed personnel decisions. I trust that they will deliver outstanding results. We are here every day to monitor their work, and if we see a slowdown in the pace and implementation of the policies promised to citizens, we will warn them. No one is eternal, and nothing is guaranteed or given in advance. Everyone will have to give their maximum effort and ensure that what is promised to the citizens is delivered,” he noted.

PM Mickoski said that, as a political party and as a government, they have demonstrated their willingness to cooperate with the media. “The latest report on institutional transparency shows a significant rise for the government. We are not in first place, we are third, but we are on the podium, and I hope that in the next evaluation we will be first,” Mickoski said, adding that everything is ready in the headquarters, and teams are on the ground working hard to reach every area.
