Skopje, 15 July 2026 (MIA) - The court delivered a verdict that serves justice and what citizens expect in regard to the fabricated Talir 1 and Talir 2 cases. The acquittal of former PM Nikola Gruevski came as a result of the Criminal Code amendments passed by the previous authorities, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Wednesday.
"At a time when VMRO-DPMNE was subjected to political persecution and aggression by the previous authorities, they fabriacated the Talir 1 and Talir 2 cases. Yesterday, the court finally delivered a verdict that, as VMRO-DPMNE sees it, serves justice and the citizens' expectations. Regarding the other portion of the verdict and the person in question, it results from the amendments to the Criminal Code that the former SDSM-DUI authorities adopted," PM Mickoski told reporters.
As a result of those amendments, he added, there have been a lot of political amnesties, with many more to follow.
"Unfortunately, when you make a mistake once, it becomes the rule, and it haunts you. As for VMRO-DPMNE, the largest political party in the country, justice has been served," said Mickoski.
