Mickoski: Inherited a broken system, managed to lay foundations of change

Skopje, 23 June 2025 (MIA) - In this difficult year we have produced results that form a solid foundation. We have realized and launched over 250 large projects, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in his address on occasion of the Government's one year in office, under slogan "Macedonia's time is coming! Building the foundations of change" on Monday.

PM Mickoski said he expected maximum commitment in the fulfillment of the programme and over 400 projects, measures, steps, reforms in the coming period, focused on development and growth, better standard, quality education, fight against corruption, investments and reforms in the health sector, major infrastructure projects etc.

"We inherited a broken system, distrust in institutions, people who lost faith, but we did not give up. We did not leave our home in the hands of the past. We put the first bricks in the new foundations, through commitment and love for every person, every community, every dream. We have set the pillars that will hold the burden of the future and keep this country standing and proud. These foundations are not only bricks, stone or concrete. These are our words and our sweat for you, your family, your future. These foundations are your trust, your struggle, your belief that Macedonia deserves more - it deserves justice, order, development and respect. These foundations are the beginning of a new era, a time when Macedonia will be yours again - a land of opportunities, a land of humanity and values, a country that everyone will be proud of. We do not promise quick solutions because we know that real change requires time, patience and perseverance. But we also know that every day of progress is a win. Every day is a struggle for dignity and the future we deserve, for the children growing up in a safe and decent country, for all of us who believe we can and must do better," said Mickoski.

According to him, the past year was one of hard work, commitment and restoring the trust, consolidation and stabilization.

"Today, we are looking forward with conviction and a heart full of hope. The time of each and every one of you is about to come, a time when we make our dreams come true, when the Macedonia of Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Roma, Serbs, Vlachs, Bosniaks comes out stronger and brighter than ever before," noted Mickoski.

He added that the number of projects would triple in the coming year compared to the 250 projects that were realized and launched over the past 12 months.

"I expect maximum commitment in fulfillment of the programme, I expect over 400 projects, measures, steps, reforms in the coming period, focused on development and growth, better standard, quality education, fight against corruption, investments and reforms in the health sector, major infrastructure projects, tax policy reforms, countering inflation and challenges related to the people's living standard, projects for youth, farmers, workers, buying a new home or vehicle, projects that will bring about the time we all hope for and the deep change we all deserve," underlined PM Mickoski.
