Mickoski: Back VMRO-DPMNE candidates to ensure those ruining Macedonia for 20 years don’t return

Skopje, 16 October 2025 (MIA) – According to all polls, according to the public opinion, but also according to the citizens and the general perception it is clear that VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition will be convincing winners at these local elections, everyone knows this, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said at a campaign rally in the Municipality of Saraj on Thursday evening.

Mickoski called on all voters to turn out massively on October 19 and to back VMRO-DPMNE’s councilor lists and mayoral candidates, as well as the candidates from the broader coalition.

“Because I believe that in this way we will have continuity in reforms, continuity in delivery, and I think that together we will continue to move forward. Let’s not allow the return of those structures that for seven years destroyed, robbed, and sold off Macedonia,” Mickoski said.

Mickoski also spoke about opposition party DUI, which, he said, was part of various governments for 20-22 years, and now feels unnatural in a different position as opposition, dedicating its entire campaign, especially the first week, to him.

“There wasn’t a rally where my name wasn’t mentioned at least 15 to 20 times. At one point I wanted to call them and say, ‘Come on people, tell us what you’ll do for the next four years. Stop talking only about Hristijan or how you’ll return to power, or making ethnic divisions.’ That was DUI’s entire campaign,” Mickoski said.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader also addressed DUI’s calls for early parliamentary elections, stating that if such elections were to be held after a convincing victory at the local elections, VMRO-DPMNE would win a majority of votes, possibly even 61 MPs.

“Imagine we have early parliamentary elections, and imagine DUI gets a good result. On the other side, it’s known that VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition, after a major local election victory, would win a huge majority in parliamentary elections, maybe 61 MPs. Who would DUI form a coalition with, how would they vote for my government? Just 5-6 months ago, I wasn’t good enough. How would they vote for my government, how would they become my ministers,” Mickoski said in Saraj.
