Skopje, 5 May 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Health Minister Arben Taravari, who leads one of the Alliance for Albanians (AA) party wings, had a constructive meeting on Monday, the Government said. Talks are set to continue and a decision about AA’s role in the Government is to be made this month.
At the meeting, PM Mickoski reaffirmed the positions he has expressed publicly in the past, the Government said in a statement to the media after the meeting.
Earlier on Monday, Mickoski said he wants to hear which option Taravari would choose – “the path of reforms and the rule of law” or joining “the political forces that have criminalized and devastated the country for years”.
Mickoski stressed that the Government is stable "with or without Taravari".
On Sunday, Mickoski said he wants to hear whether it is true that “Taravari has agreed with DUI for DUI not to name any mayoral candidates in at least five or six municipalities where Taravari’s party wing candidates will run,” noting that this is unacceptable to him.
Meanwhile, Taravari told journalists in Tetovo that his party wing remained steadfast in their decision to name their own candidates for the upcoming local elections, but he would also hear what Mickoski had to say on the matter.
The meeting between Mickoski and Taravari comes following AA’s exclusion from the VLEN coalition after the leaders of the three other parties in the coalition alleged he had held discussions with DUI leader Ali Ahmeti.
