Skopje, 1 September 2025 (MIA) - A team of experts from Turkey, led by world-renowned architect Bajram Vardar, has been hired to develop a master plan for the Chair mayoral candidate and incumbent Deputy PM and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Izet Mexhiti.
The team's experience in urban planning, architecture and spatial management is set to ensure a modern and sustainable visionary approach for the municipality, Mexhiti's team said in a press release.
The team also includes Nadir Doran, who has developed urban plans for Istanbul, Bursa, Kocaeli and Trabzon, as well as many urban transformation projects, and architect Mustafa Tutar, whose company has implemented more than 800 international projects in the field of architecture design and visualization.
The Turkish experts, alongside local urban planners and architects, will contribute to the development of the master plan, which aims to position Chair as a model of sustainable development in Skopje, reads the press release.
Last month, Deputy PM Mexhiti said architect Barjam Vardar would be one of his closest associates working on the new urban development concept in Chair.
Vardar, an ethnic Albanian of Skopje descent, was part of the Recep Tayyip Erdogan's team back in the time when the current Turkish President was mayor of Istanbul. He was also the chief urban planner of the Turkish city of Bursa.
