Skopje, 11 October 2025 (MIA) — Levica opened its campaign election headquarters in the Municipality of Centar earlier Saturday, with mayoral candidate Amar Mecinovikj speaking about their campaign, their challenges and the energy the party has invested in these elections.

Comparing Levica's fight to the fight of David against Goliath, Mecinovikj said their party was leading the biggest political fight in the past 30 years. 

Although the big parties had more money and state support, he said, "they don't have our creativity and our desire for real change."

Mecinovikj said citizens had become more welcoming toward Levica as a result of their parliamentary activities.

"If someone had told us four years ago that we were a potential favorite over SDSM to enter the City of Skopje mayoral runoff, we would not have believed them," he said. 

"Our Skopje campaign will bring positive results for all Skopje municipalities," he said, adding that Levica "will dethrone the monopoly of VMRO and SDSM."

He also said politics had to be guided by people's everyday needs.

"When we talk about politics, we are talking about mothers pushing strollers who cannot walk on the sidewalk because of parked cars. We are talking about high school students who cannot get to classes on time. We are talking about workers who work two jobs," Mecinovikj said.

He added that talking about "the everyday Skopje resident, the everyday Macedonian" was Levica's "equation that brought us success and that we can never leave behind." mr/
