Belgrade, 31 October 2025 (MIA) — The Macedonian Cultural and Information Center in Belgrade is hosting Friday evening a concert by the folk ensemble Makedonium, MIA's Belgrade correspondent reports.

Titled after the Macedonian folk song „На срце ми лежи, мила мамо“ ("It Lies on My Heart, Dear Mom"), the concert will include both traditional and original songs that have brought great acclaim to the ensemble over the past 10 years. During that time, the ensemble has given numerous performances both for the Macedonian community in Serbia and for the Serbian audience.

Makedonium was founded in 2015 to preserve, nurture and popularize traditional Macedonian folk music and customs as well as promote new Macedonian music. It has performed at almost every important event organized by the Macedonian community in Serbia, including Days of Macedonian Culture in Novi Sad and many celebrations of Macedonian national holidays such as Ilinden in Jabuka and Kacharevo. 

The ensemble has also represented Serbia's Macedonian National Council at a Belgrade fair devoted to the country's national minorities as well at the Explorers international festival, MIA's correspondent writes.

Macedonian Cultural Center in Belgrade director Vasko Shutarov will open the concert, organized in partnership with the Makedonium Association of Macedonians in Belgrade and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. mr/
