Levica satisfied with turnout figures in Skopje, except for Chair and Saraj

Skopje, 2 November 2025 (MIA) – Levica is satisfied with the turnout in the urban areas of Skopje, except for the municipalities of Chair and Saraj, where turnout was low and a party spokesperson said they noted allegations of bribery for citizens not to vote. Most of the party’s remarks about Sunday’s vote were related to issues with the devices for biometric identification of voters.

“Voting ended in the runoff of the 2025 local elections, which for the first time saw a representative from Levica participate in the electoral process for mayor of the City of Skopje. We are satisfied with the turnout in the urban areas, except for the municipalities of Chair and Saraj of course, where there is an unbelievably low turnout, and even allegations of bribery to motivate citizens not to vote, which for us constitutes a serious violation of electoral law,” Levica spokesperson Krume Bogevski said at a press conference.

Bogevski said Levica’s observers tried to cover as many polling stations as possible during the runoff.

“We expect this to help identify all irregularities. During election day, most of the reports concerned the malfunctioning of a large number of electronic voter identification devices. So, as in every election year, identification was carried out using the traditional method with UV lamps,” Bogevski said.
