Skopje, 10 October 2025 (MIA) - The Venice Commission of the Council of Europe has provided a positive opinion on the draft law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the draft law on the Council of Public Prosecutors, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release Friday.

“In the adopted opinion, the Commission gave a positive assessment of both the process and the content of the drafted laws, welcoming the reform efforts of the Justice Ministry. It was noted that both draft laws comply with international standards and incorporate all recommendations. Several additional suggestions were also provided to improve the legal texts. This confirms that the laws are fully aligned with European principles of professionalism and efficiency in public prosecution, as well as with standards for transparent and accountable functioning of the Council of Public Prosecutors,” the Ministry said.

The Justice Ministry added that the opinion represents an important confirmation of “the European commitment, and the transparent and inclusive approach we employ in the process of reforming the judiciary and building a judicial system that reflects the highest standards of democracy, justice, and integrity”.
