Ivan Ivanovski exhibit on crowd mentality opens in Skopje

Skopje, 17 July 2025 (MIA) – Macedonian multimedia artist Ivan Ivanovski's solo exhibition "Cluster," which consists of paintings, sculptures and drawings exploring crowd mentality, opens Thursday at Skopje's Culture and Information Center. The show will be on view until Sept. 1.

According to organizers, Ivanovski's "Cluster" focuses on "the psychological, sociological and political dynamic of the crowd," highlighting "the phenomenon of losing subjectivity in conditions of mass experience, corporal density and spatial dependence."

"The exhibition considers the ways in which a person gets absorbed into the group and reemerges again, not as an 'I' but as a 'we'," organizers write.

Ivan Ivanovski (b. 1983, Skopje) is a visual artist and filmmaker. He has a degree in sculpture from the Skopje Faculty of Visual Arts and a degree in film directing from the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts, the Czech Republic. He is now a graduate student at the Institute of Macedonian Literature.

He has had dozens of individual art shows and participated in many group exhibitions in the country and abroad. He is the author of the "Bird People" sculptures at the Skopje City Park and several books.

Ivanovski has also directed several short films, including “Hook” (2021), “Form b16” (2017), “Konzo” (2013), “Scratching Vinyls Recycling Plastic” (2013) and “Inside” (2009). mr/
