Industrial production up 9.4 percent in May: statistics

Skopje, 30 June 2025 (MIA) – Industrial production in May 2025 rose by 9.4 percent compared to May 2024. The industrial production index in the January - May 2025 period, in comparison with January - May 2024, was 103.3, said the State Statistical Office on Monday.
The industrial production in the section Mining and quarrying in May 2025, in comparison with May 2024, increased by 18.8%, in the section Manufacturing it increased by 9.0%, while in the section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it decreased by 11.8%.
The increase in the section Manufacturing is mostly due to increased production in the divisions: Manufacture of food products, Manufacture of beverages, Manufacture of textiles, Manufacture of wearing apparel, Manufacture of paper and paper products, Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, Manufacture of rubber and plastic products, Manufacture of electrical equipment, Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c., Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and Manufacture of furniture.
The industrial production by Main Industrial Groupings in May 2025, in comparison with May 2024, was higher in Intermediate goods, except energy by 13.7%, Capital goods by 13.5% and Non-durable consumer goods by 6.6%, but lower in Energy by 8.0% and Durable consumer goods by 9.0%.
