Head of ODIHR EOM visits Public Prosecutor's Office
- Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski received on Wednesday a visit by Matteo Mecacci, Head of the ODIHR Election Observation Mission (EOM) for the upcoming local elections, discussing in detail all the competencies of the Public Prosecutor's Office in proceedings regarding possible criminal offenses related to the election process, the Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.
Skopje, 24 September 2025 (MIA) - Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski received on Wednesday a visit by Matteo Mecacci, Head of the ODIHR Election Observation Mission (EOM) for the upcoming local elections, discussing in detail all the competencies of the Public Prosecutor's Office in proceedings regarding possible criminal offenses related to the election process, the Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.
Kocevski, the press release reads, briefed Mecacci on the structure and current activities of the temporary commission on election irregularities related to possible criminal offences under Chapter 16 of the Criminal Code - Criminal offences against elections and voting, as well as other criminal offences that may have been committed during the organization and conduct of the elections.
"The Commission has been set up and is already operating. Any reports of criminal offences related to the elections will have priority in the actions of the Public Prosecutor's Office in the coming period," Chief Prosecutor Kocevski and commission chair Xhelal Bajrami said.
In that context, interlocutors pointed out that the Public Prosecutor's Office has been in coordination with other competent institutions, including the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, the State Audit Office and the State Election Commission.
