Los Angeles, 6 May 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Former top swimmer Gary Hall Junior has received replicas of the 10 Olympic medals he lost in the Los Angeles fires four months ago.

The American travelled to the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Switzerland on Monday.

"Three-time Olympian Gary Hall Jr. receives replicas of the 10 Olympic medals he lost in the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year," an IOC X post said.

"The medals are presented to him by IOC President Thomas Bach during a special ceremony today at Olympic House in Lausanne."

Bach will be succeeded by Kirsty Coventry next month.

Hall won five Olympic golds, three silver and two bronze at the 1996, 2000 und 2004 Games.

His house burnt down in January and the medals went with it.
