Greek farmers continue blockades at Evzoni border crossing

Greek farmers continue blockades at Evzoni border crossing

Athens, 3 December 2025 (MIA) – Protesting Greek farmers from the northern part of Greece, the municipality of Paionia, once again blocked all traffic at the Evzoni (Bogorodica) border crossing to North Macedonia shortly after 12 noon local time, MIA's Athens correspondent reports.

It is not specified how long the on and off blockades, which were also set up on Monday and Tuesday, will last.

The farmers' practice, as seen in their protests over the previous years, is not to announce the blockades, given that tractors and farm vehicles remain parked at the border crossing, while competent agricultural committees decide on the time and duration of the blockades at daily meetings.

Around 150 tractors and farm vehicles are gathered at the Greek side of the border.

Farmers have set up blockades across Greece, trying to reach the Promachonas border crossing with Bulgaria, where they managed to bypass the police, while in the Thessaly region, where blockades are set up at several points along the Thessaloniki-Athens highway, over 4,000 tractors are gathered.
