Gov't adopts new strategy for confiscation of illegally acquired assets

Skopje, 17 June 2025 (MIA) - The Government at its session on Tuesday adopted the strategy on strengthening the capacities for financial investigations and asset confiscation for the 2025–2028 period, together with an Action Plan, said Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Policies Arben Fetai.

This document, he added, reflects the Government's unwavering commitment to fighting organized crime and corruption, by strengthening the competent institutions with a structured and systematic approach, which aims to increase efficiency in the confiscation of illegally acquired assets.

"The fight against corruption and organized crime remains the Government's main priority. Therefore, ensuring the conditions and strengthening the institutional capacities for financial investigations and confiscation of illegally acquired assets is at the centre of our efforts. A strategy, no matter how good, remains only a document if it is not implemented effectively. Therefore, we are strengthening the mechanisms for monitoring and supervision, through the establishment of a National Council for Financial Investigations and Asset Confiscation, which will ensure the successful implementation of the established goals," said Fetai.

He noted that his office will play a central role in coordinating and supporting these efforts, ensuring ongoing commitment to the implementation of the strategy.
